Unhappy 7 Days and Still Waiting

Order placed on 2/12

Order fulfilled on 2/16 - FOUR DAYS TO PUT A FEW SMALL BAGS IN A BOX?

2/19- STILL WAITING for box to make a 5 hour ride from NJ to CT

After reading around on here it seems that Order Fulfillents means it was in the process of being picked and packed.

And notice of shipment with a tracking number will be emailed when order is shipped.

7 Days and it hasn't left NJT

Hey Woody from CT.

We are getting ready for shows now, but I agree.....that is no excuse why it didn't go out. Sometimes items we think is in stock and ready to ship is not. Either way, I will find out why and get back to you.

Thanks for being patient.

I hear ya woody.
And I accept full resposibility for it.
Only thing I can say in my defense is these Components Like all the LIPS, wire , weights, jigs, tins. etc are MFG by ME personally & all that it entails. This is how I can guarentee the quality, its all on ME.
so, Its not just a matter of putting em in a bag and shipping them. If it were that easy, every order would go out the same day.
Its a balancing act of MFG, and getting all the orders out . The lips sample packs, are supposed to have NEW lips in them , ALL the lips (same price) . There are 4 new ones, that im trying to get done, these are not even on the site yet.
As I said in the notes on the order, I will get on this immed.
Call me if you want to discuss more.

I spoke to John and we may have mislead our customers by the words 'in stock'.

NJT is not some multi-million dollar online retailer with thousands of square feet of storage where we simply pick items for each order. Amazon, Best Buy, and other huge online retailers DO stock items on shelves and can pick-n-ship same day. They have hundreds of employees and can easily turn around an order and ship same day. Unfortunately for us, this has become the norm and what is expected when buying online.

NJT (and Diamond Tackle) is a small family run company. Our main focus is offering HIGH QUALITY items. We do NOT stock everything we sell on a shelf packaged & ready to ship. Most of the items we sell are manufactured by Diamond Tackle and ship direct from them. It would be impossible to make every lure and color combination, package it and stock them on a shelf for immediate shipping. For example; we sell a Tin Herring with Yellow Bucktail. There are 5 tail combinations for the Tin Herring. Some even have 8 with Tubetail colors. If we would stock a dozen each of the Tin Herring in each tail combination that would require us to have 60 packages of a Tin Herring with each tail color. We sell 23 different Tins. That is 1,380 packages of Tins. Let’s throw in eye color as another option and you can quickly see how HUGE this can get. These are just the tins.

To make this somewhat manageable we have decided to call things ‘in stock’ if the body is ready, the hook is ready, and we have the eye in stock. When an order is placed and if we don’t have the one you ordered ‘ready to go on a shelf’ we assemble the parts, package and then ship. This takes some time. We use this for most of the manufactured items we sell. Obviously things we buy from other manufacturers (Al Gag's Plugs, etc) and sell are ready to ship. If an item is marked OUT OF STOCK it means we do not have the raw material ready to manufacture/package the item.

So….when we say an item is ‘in stock’ we mean the raw material for the item is in stock and we can ship in 1 or up to 7 days depending on work load, orders, etc. Most orders, if simple, will go out same day. This has happened many times and a few of you have expressed thanks for turning around orders so quickly. If you need something ASAP please note this in the order details. We try to accommodate EVERYONE as best we can.

Like I said, I discussed this with John (of Diamond Tackle) and we will come up with a better explanation of ship times for EACH item we sell. This will be done with our new shopping cart we’ve been working on which should be released within the next few weeks. Its currently in testing phase.

I hope this explains a few things, and I sincerely appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Our customers are the reason why we are still here since we opened back in 1999 and we value each & every opinion/comment/suggestion given.

Thanks again!
-Norbert

Appreciate the responses guys

Perhaps I've been spoiled by other online retailer's and their practices. The fact that I need these lips ASAP for a club plug swap probably contributed to my mindset when typing my harsh post. In the future a quick email when the order is placed saying a delay may occur for some reason would go a long way toward keeping customers aware and thus satisfied.

Looking forward to receiving the items that I see shipped this afternoon.

Jon

If that is what would make you/our customers feel better knowing the exact status I will try to implement this within the new shopping cart. Although I'm hesitant about adding another step in the shipping process, some automated system to send out regular updates, more then what we have now, would make sense & would certainly work, I think. I'll look into it.

Thanks again for the comments.

I've bought a fair amount of stuff here over the last few years, not big orders,, but quite a few small ones, most under $300... with the exception of 1 or 2 instinces, the "parts" arrived within a few days... the service is great here Woody... these guy's try hard and deliver a quality product... Just thought I'd give another customers perspective....

Thanks Roccus,
I appreciate that//

Not to defend myself any further, as I think most of our LOYAL Customers know where I am coming from.
I just find it odd that some companies who dont manufacture anything, get a PASS.
Like one co, who blatantly tells his customers, "this is not profitable for me" so I am not even going to TAKE your order. Even though the items are on their SITE and available for sale.
I ship SO much stuff where its Like lead jigs and the postage is $13 , yet we collect only 6.99. But I dont care. Thats the system we chose, as an incentive for guys to shop more, the more you buy the less the shipping is if you divide it out..

I once shopped with a Company, Im going to give the name only because they are OUT of business for other reasons, so I dont think I am bashing them. Boaters World...
Anyway, I ordered a bunch of Storm shads when they first came onto the scene (only about $150 ? maybe) ... They shipped 13 boxes to me, seperately... 13 diff shipments for one order...some of them had 2 packages in them, at like $2.99 per pack. this was over a period of like 45 days .. TRUE STORY....
Can you imagine, I thought it was a JOKE, but that was THEIR System,
Ship immediately, whatever is in stock...and I was>> NOT<< told they were OUT of stock when I Placed my order , btw.
Not saying it was good or bad, just giving an example of a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT business model... We can draw your own conclusions.
