| New guy saying hello!
I'm new here so I wanted to say hi and post some pics. Here is a big blue beast I built and some small mahi color Needle fish I painted up for my Key west trip next month. I'm hoping to catch some tropical fish with them maybe a tarpoon or a barracuda. Yes I live in NC now grew up fishing all around this country and spent some time as a youth living on long island. now I'm starting to build again so here is some of my plugs.

Hello and welcome to the board!!! ![]() Nice finish on those plugs. Have you been building long? I think John of Diamond Tackle spoke to you the other day about kits and other things. This is Norbert....John's brother. I own NJ Tackle. John owns and runs Diamond Tackle. We no longer carry Salty products because of quality and consistency issues. He uses CNC technology which is great when it works. But if one of the stepper motors get pushed out of position then a hole, shape or other can be off. And we're not talking 1 piece. You can get 10, 20 or even 100 pieces made off until its noticed. And most times then not he lets them go since they are kits and thinks hey, these are just beginners who paint them to show off and won't get fished anyways. This mentality is what started a debate between us and Salty and therefore have decided to no longer carry his products (once we sell out of this finished stuff which is TAKING forever! Wonder why? )Anyways, please don't be confused between Diamond Tackle - the manufacturer of 90% of the product we sell here and Salty (the other mfg with a HUGE DIAMOND as a logo). Salty copied the 'Diamond' logo and slogan and injected it into his campaign to mimic Diamond Tackle (who is run by John and has been in business since 1979) right after we decided to no longer carry his products. Hope this clears a few things up. I know you didn't start this thread about this...but from what JD said you guys spoke about I just wanted to clear up a few possible misunderstandings. Thanks....and enjoy your stay here. Feel free to post more pics of your finished work (even if its from another mfg -Norbert |

Thanks for the welcome. I understand what your saying about CNC issues. I used to build plugs when I was younger and lived up there. I recently started again. I just ordered a few kits from you guys. For now I'm out sourcing my plug bodies. I have a lathe and know how to use it, however, I just don't have the space to set it up right now. I never had an airbrush or all the knowledge that is at our fingertips when I was building before, this is great. Now with all of these new found epoxies, paint and some graphic arts knowledge I'm having a blast. Any way thanks and I'll post some new pics soon. |
